Every family has that one bake — the dish that hits the table and nobody negotiates, nobody picks around the edges, everybody just eats. In our house, this is it. Baked ziti with turkey sausage, marinara, and creamy ricotta dollops under a golden mozzarella top. It started as a baked ziti reel making the rounds online, and after a few runs through my kitchen it earned a permanent spot in the Tuesday rotation.
The whole thing is built in layers of flavor without a single fussy step. The ziti cooks one minute shy of the package directions — that is deliberate, because it finishes in the oven and drinks up the sauce instead of going soft. While the pasta boils, the turkey sausage browns in a hot skillet; breaking it into crumbles gives you savory, crispy-edged bits in every bite. A jar of marinara goes in (weeknight cooking is not about making sauce from scratch on a Tuesday), and then two handfuls of baby spinach wilt right into it, so the greens are in there without anyone making a face.
The ricotta is the move that makes it taste like a restaurant bake. Instead of stirring it through, you dot spoonfuls over the top of the assembled dish before the mozzarella goes on. In the oven those dollops turn into creamy pockets — every scoop pulls up a little of everything: pasta, sausage crumbles, bright sauce, and a cloud of ricotta.
Each serving lands at roughly 40 grams of protein with about 580 calories, plus an estimated 55 grams of carbs and 23 grams of fat (the carb and fat figures are our estimates — the original reel did not publish nutrition). It makes six hearty servings, and the leftovers reheat like a dream.
